Dr. Ray Pastore has explicitly explained the different principles of multimedia learning. He did the explanations perfectly and descriptively in his seventeen minutes’ video on the YouTube channel. However, in his video, he contradicted his explanation because he failed to follow the explanations that he gave on the redundancy principle, embodiment principle, and modality principle. He stated clearly that the redundancy principle states that people learn better from graphics and narration than on a combination of some graphics, narrations, and printed texts. The modality principle explains that people learn much through the use of pictures and spoken words than from pictures and printed words. However, he included too many graphics and printed texts on the screen. He also presented the same information in more than one format and his image was on the screen throughout the entire video.

Which multimedia principle will apply to a PowerPoint presentation in class discussions or face-to-face business meetings?

 An expert may not be able to follow and handle all the multimedia principles on a single multimedia learning object because its preparation requires much time and it is tedious to be combined in a less twenty minutes’ video since he addresses and engages people of different learning types.

Presentations either face-to-face discussions or PowerPoint in a business meeting require the use of slides and graphics with narrations and it should be simple and precise. The use of graphics and narrations only or the use of pictures and spoken words will be much preferred thus application of the redundancy and modality principles is required.

In conclusion, power points presentation and multimedia learning are highly valuable and I recommend it for it makes one be efficient and learn easily.
